For teachers of Limited English Proficiency students (English language learners) in ESL, immersion, and mainstream classes, this CyberSmart! Online Workshop is a four-week facilitated professional learning community exploring ways to meet the needs of this particular student population with 21st century teaching. Because the dominant language of the Internet is English, educators will consider how to evaluate the nearly unlimited resources available online for ESL learning. The focus will be on developing and modifying engaging real-world tasks, such as cross-cultural projects, in which students use the Internet to communicate and collaborate. Online tools for listening and speaking will be investigated.
